Epidural Steroid Injections.

Epidural steroid injections are typically performed to relieve pain from narrowing of the spinal canal or pinched nerves in the back or neck. These conditions can cause pain in the arms, chest, or legs.

Your doctor will perform this injection under x-ray guidance. This will allow them to make sure that the steroid is deposited safely in the epidural space around the problem disk(s). The steroid will then begin to reduce the swelling and inflammation, to provide you with longer lasting pain relief. This process may take up to 14 days to see the maximum effects, but relief can last weeks to months at a time.
