Dr. Hurst-Wicker grew up in Central Ohio before he moved to Boston where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Boston University and a love for the Boston Red Sox. After Boston, he moved to New York City where he graduated from Columbia University with his Medical Doctorate. While at Columbia, Dr Hurst-Wicker spent a year performing research in surgical oncology where he dealt closely with patients who suffered from cancer pain. This experience began his interest in becoming a pain physician.
After completing his training in Anesthesiology at University of Utah, he stayed on to complete a fellowship in Pain Medicine. Having lived throughout the U.S., Dr Hurst-Wicker is happy to call Arizona home. He enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, as well as fly fishing, scuba diving, hiking, and biking.
